Ganga has been abused and polluted for decades and cannot be cleaned over night. It requires a huge Program with commitment from various stakeholders. A Plan is therefore inevitable, but its success will depend upon (a) Phased implementation (b) Delegation of responsibility to lowest level (c) Active Participation from the corporate sector and (d) Enforcement with ZERO Tolerance for violations. Enclosed document provides a 3 yr roadmap to cleaning of Ganga

All types of idol immersion (Durga/Ganpati) should be banned in Ganga and all other rivers. Maximum idols are made up of plaster of paris (POP) which pollutes water further. If idols are to be immersed in water, the government must ban idols made up of POP and they should be compulsorily made up of sand.

Cleanliness, care and action for environment quality are the keys to individual’s own health. There is pressing inevitable need to design the waste management, recycling and reusing systems to attain desired environmental quality and healthy habitat. So, the governance or project planning and actionable implementations are to be prioritized on the basis knowledge to yield the outcomes as desired. There is exigency to reform the institutional mechanism to improve the quality of water resources.

One of the most important thing which has happened in India in last 20 years is cultural degradation in the name of Globalization. We have to change our education system and must put it back to ancient state. Any civilization disappears when its cultures and values are broken.. and so is the western strategy and they are pretty successful so far!. Our culture teaches about amalgamation with environment in which we live. We will have to teach from nursery level about good habits, cleanliness..

We will have to take strict steps such as ban on non biodegradable waste such as polythene bags, plastics. If we replace them with biodegradable products our 30% of task will be over. Second is the industrial waste. All the existing industries must have to produce a certificate that waste they creating are treated in the plants. Third task is for local municipal level bodies for treatment of household waste.
