New Knowledge, pedagogies and approaches for teaching of Science, Maths and Technology in School Education to improve learning outcomes of Students

Poor science and maths education (and English) accounts for 80 per cent of total students who fail in Tenth Board Examination. The low enrolment in science stream at higher secondary level and poor-quality education is a constraint in development of scientific manpower in the country. Science and Maths education would need special attention. We need to deliberate and find workable strategies for strengthening the quality of teaching & learning processes for better outcomes; innovations and diversity of approaches in matters of curricula, pedagogies and use of technology to improve the learning levels.

Steps in lesson study 1.Select topic for study 2.Identify a tentative object of learning 3.Diagnose students learning difficulties(pretest, interview) 4.Confirm the object of learning & its critical aspects 5.Plan the research lesson 6.Implement & observe the lesson 7.Evaluate the learning outcomes(post-test interviews) 8.Evaluate the overall impact of the study 9.Disseminate & report the result 10.Possibilty to utilize for society

#19 I see many students who leave institutes under pressure of periodic assessment. So assessment should not be test wise and need to give proper guidance after assessment to correct things.

While launching new course or study material government should conduct classes for teachers also which will help them to tech students clearly

#19 NO if its only in terms of academic performance.. YES.. if its including assessment of skills each student has.. and keeping a record of how he/she is improving the skills..
