While each smart city will have distinctive features specific to its location, demography, culture and other such factors, there maybe smart solutions to problems which are common to all cities. This contest seeks to identify such smart and innovative solutions to common problems. All questions in this category must be answered to be considered as a complete submission and to be eligible for short-listing. Questions 1. Out of the following 21 smart solutions, select 3 solutions that should be applied to all Indian cities and provide a brief write-up (max. 50 words) to explain why. 2. Describe a ‘smart’ idea that you have seen in some other city(anywhere in the world) that you would like to see replicated in your own city. ‘Smart idea’ means doing more with less. 3. Describe 3 ways that Indian cities can reduce the gap between rich and poor. 4. List out 5 essential facts about your local municipal corporation that should be available to all citizens. Entry Deadline • Entries may be submitted online on the mygov.in portal latest by 23.59 hours (11.59 pm) on Saturday, 20th June 2015. Evaluation The submissions will be evaluated on the following criteria: • Do-ability (50%) • Innovation (50%) Award Two winners in each category will be awarded a citation from the Prime Minister at the Smart City Mission Launch on June 25th, 2015 at VigyanBhavan, New Delhi, along witha cash prize of the following amounts: • Rs. 40,000 - First PrizeRs. 25,000 - Second Prize The winning ideas would be shared with the 100 SmartCities as potentiallyimplementablesolutions and will be considered for pilot • All questions in a particular category must be answered to be considered as a complete submission and to be eligible for short-listing. • The participants(s) entries will be judged for each category independently and on merit. In case of short listing in more than one category, a participant will receive prize money for one category only. • The length of each answer is limited to 250 words or less. roadways is the common problem for all cities.For building strong nation Roadways and Clean city is the must one. Quality of roads should be high. create pollution free city by adding pollution filter to all the vehicles,planting trees roadside Clean city which can be achieved by swach bharat but that should be strong by adding a seperate team members for swach bharat and clean he city effectively.closing drainage should be mandatory,dustbins should be kept through oug the city corners

Simple excercise machine for older people in public gardens. The machines that work on your own muscles. Older people need to healthy and active also. Seen and used a lot in Singapore and South Korea

Traffic lights with pedestrian crossing to have buzzing sound for visually impaired people. The buzz will let them know when pedestrian crossing is green and ok for crossing.

For solid waste disposal segregation; mixed waste can be disposed in only one bag sold by government only... For free disposal segregate waste. This idea was great in Korea; to avoid buying many bags people would segregate atleast glass plastic tin cans

more ramps for strollers and wheel chairs. Normal road side curb should also have ramps.. Just 1 m wide area on side way can be built into slant. This will go a long way in giving equal opportunity to people with special needs and prevent parents from locking children with needs at home.

Ans:14)Renewable sources of Energy:Sun is biggest source of energy so use solar panel in all the building of smart cities so energy saving. 8)Waste water to be treated:waste water treated and use for drinking,energy generation purpose. 5)Video crime monitoring:this reduce crime in smart cities.

public transport that comes with the built in baby seat!! The normal seats are designed so.. The seat can be pushed forward and the bottom part opens to make a baby seat! Such things will eliminate need for extra cars in families! Saw and used this in Norway.

4. 1 Municipalities must encourage consumers to separate wastes for recycling. 2 They must insist people to collect the wastes that cannot be burnt and can be used to extract gravel for road construction. 3 The parks in each locality can conduct daily Yoga programs to make the locality healthy. 4 The awareness on diet, medicines, food products ,diseases must be done. 5 The municipality can transform their area beggars as workers to clean the locality with certain wages.

1.(1,8,14) 1 ensures public around awareness,8 a solution to future acute problem,14 ensures environment and energy issues. 2.green rooftops-connected roof as a green lawn ensures social interaction 3.Gap is more psychological than economic( need more interaction) (a)street wise scholarship for poor students-tax free (b)ward level weekend cultural and sport competitions (c)streetwise community fund-tax free. 4. water, hospital, street light, playground, parking lot.

3. The three ways that Indian cities can reduce the gap between rich and poor: (1) Unify the education fees of private and Government institutions. This change will bring out uniformity amongst young students not only in uniform dress but also in thoughts. (2) The rich should come out of their comfort zone and create friendly conversations with poor. (3) The rich can stretch their helping hands for the welfare of physically challenged, poor students,skillful youngsters.
