During the Rashtriya Ekta Divas address on 31st October, on the occasion of birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi announced that the Government of India proposes to launch a new initiative called ‘EK Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’. The programme aims to give a boost to the existing cultural connect between different parts of the country and enhance interaction between people living in different states.

Conceptually, the idea is that each year one state should connect to any other state in India on a reciprocal basis. As the Prime Minister himself explained through an example in his speech, "Haryana as a state can decide to connect with Tamil Nadu for the year 2016 and the activities that Haryana state can undertake may include popularizing the rich heritage of Tamil Nadu in Haryana through song festivals, book festivals, literary events, food festivals, tours of people of Haryana to Tamil Nadu and vice versa. In the year 2017, Haryana would connect to any other state and in 2018 to another state and so on".

The knowledge of the culture, traditions and practices of different states will lead to an enhanced understanding and bonding between each other thereby strengthening the unity and and integrity of India. The full address of the portion of the Prime Minister's speech, where he announced the scheme, can be accessed here.

We believe that such an initiative to connect people-to-people should be implemented with inputs from the citizens of India.

With this view, MyGov introduces the ‘EK Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ contest. Citizens are invited to submit their ideas and suggestions on how the programme should be structured so as to encapsulate its true spirit in all its various dimensions and capture the diversity that characterises India.

While the citizens are free to submit their ideas in kernel format, they can also expand in detail on the themes and sub-themes. Citizens may consider the following general themes on which to base their ideas, while submitting their entries. These themes are only indicative and participants are free to include any other points they deem appropriate.

1. Identifying role of central government and state governments in implementing the programme
2. Identifying the manner in which the governments, civil society and private sector can work together.
3. Specifying the Use of modern communication tools, including social media.
4. Documentation of success stories.
5. Making 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' a people's movement rather than a government programme.

Participants are encouraged to submit original and innovative ideas. An idea, merely rich in detail but lacking originality, would not score more than a very innovative idea explained briefly. However, if a very innovative idea is also explained in detail, it will naturally score higher.

Participants may submit their entries as attached PDF documents while providing a summary of their proposals in the comment section.

The winners of the contest will be awarded a certificate by the Prime Minister, along with cash prizes as follows:

1. First Prize - Rs. 100,000/-
2. Second Prize - Rs. 75,000/-
3. Third Prize - Rs. 50,000/-

The last date for submission is 25th December, 2015.

If we have to make one India for all, we have to be united in each respect whether it is celebration of each & every festivals, in terms of language, in terms of knowledge, in terms of technology, in terms of education, in terms of development, in terms of support, in terms of culture, in terms of basic needs etc.. Differences are created when there is a gap among above, that’s why it is felt. Just think before you act, because action of each & every citizen in India affects our country directly

We can make it by removing religious indefference. Why we can’t teach our generation that all religions are same, finally they teach humanity only. Can'twe celebrate all festivals. We should communicate the Importance of festivals, the concept behind it & why we should celebrate this irrespective of Religion. In higher society, we see so many examples, can’t we apply the same model to whole country. If religion can divide, I’m sure it can unite us in a very strong manner that no one can break.

best way to connect states is via people.government must open a new website targeting tourism between states.tourism must be provided by govt to citizen of the states at a low rate.so that many people can go and visit each others states and get emotionally and culturally connected to each other. They must be encouraged to visit other state at the main festivals of the visting states at a cheap rate....nothing more would be needed then

4.while promoting the culture of state chosen the govt. should organise trips for visiting the state district wise for people at nominal packages so that atleast some people for every locality cherish the culture nd living of state and promote it themselves to others.this will reduce state role and citizens themselves would become torch bearers.

My ideas are very small small steps we, state government and center government can take which would ultimately transform our country as the best living place in the whole world. Our country has a very rich and heritage culture and we have to preserve our culture and bring unity in diversity.

Culture is a concoction of language, dressing, food, celebration and tradition. Any attempt to make aware of a culture to a person has to include all the above and cannot be isolated. That means one person can never fully understand a culture holistically and respect it, till he has seen and experienced the above. High importance must be given to children of various ages to participate in culture exchange programs and encourage student exchange programs. Please find details in attached document

in order to encash the diversity of india this type of initiative was longed.so to make it work following can be done- 1.random states need to be made partners by a lotttery system not by discretion as state may choose another seein its own party govt. o amicable relationships. 2.partner state choosen need to be promoted on each nd every aspect. especially food.as its a major longed for aspect of culture. 3.people2people contact by organised which needs to be basic foundation of vision.

In India, for a long term vision for 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' we have to inculcate the value of being one from childhood. In schools, different cultural books should be added in syllabus. For e.g schools in Kerala should be taught about culture of northern India and vice versa. Also, camps should be conducted where these kids meet each other and exchange culture values. Also, an app can de developed for kids where kids can learn about different cultural through interesting games. THANK YOU
